Only had truck a couple of weeks. When it was warm (above 60) the truck was a little hard to start and would idle rough for a short time then appeared to be fine. Yesterday the temp dropped and it snowed, today thge truck will turn over and once in a while try to start but didn't. Any ideas, I was wondering about injector seals
You would be money ahead to get yourself some gauges like scan gauge II or one of the smart phone apps like torque or dashboss. Scan gauge II can be had at autozone for around 150 bucks, not sure about the smart phone apps Josh (Bullitt390) is pretty up to date on the Dashboss i believe . The ability to read live data is essential to diagnosing these trucks with a 6.0L.
Being an 06 there are a couple of common failure points in the HPO system like stand pipes, dummy plugs and the STC fitting being the main culprits. If the high prssure oil cant get above 500 PSI it will not start, having a set of gauges will show you if you are not getting up to pressure among other things.
What oil and oil filters are you running? How has the maintanence schedule been? Only use OEM/Racor oil and fuel filters and OEM air filters. Make sure you are doing your maintanence at proper intervals and dont go cheap on filters or you will pay the price.
I was running 15W-40 motorcraft synthetic blend and recently switched to rotella T-6 5W-40 and will never go back it made a huge difference how it runs when cold much quieter and smoother.
I ordered a Scanguage II yesterday. I just purchased the truck with 116K. I changed all filters with OEM except air it is K&N. I use Rotella 15w-30. as I live in N TX we usually don't have long strtches of cold weather and a lot of hot weather. When the temp came up today the truck started. I also orderede a cord for the block htr.
Thanks for the info
