No offense Rexp but Steve's right. Expect to hear opinions/recommendations when you post up concerns about your vehicle. If you don't want to hear either of those, then maybe voicing your gripes on a public forum isn't the correct outlet for you...

My oil and Trans temp go up way before the water temp. does and if they sre up i am ok, especially the trans temp. I have seen some severe problems putting tourq on a cold auto. trans. If the oil and trans temps. are ok then i can heat the water.

Pg. 12: "Idling in cold weather will not heat the engine to its normal operating temperature. Long periods of idling, especially in cold weather, can cause a buildup of deposits which can cause engine damage."

There's a difference between "drive gently" and wide-friggin-open.

MOST people don't have a 10-foot driveway terminating in a freeway entrance ramp.

2-3 miles of gentle driving (such as the 3 miles of rigorously enforced 30 MPH to leave my subdivision) is perfect for warming the engine up.

Anyone who drops a cold diesel (of any kind) into gear and throttles up to wide open immediately is probably going to have bigger issues than the engine failing.
