I can make one in the iron worker at work that would be strong enough to lean on when working.that would be nice.1/4" strap with a bend, punch a hole and weld a piece of dom tubing on end...powder it.yea, I'm gonna build one tomorrow...
OK so I went out in the cold today to take a look at my hose bracket, mine is actually in pretty good shape but just a bad location. Well I scratched my head a little trying to think of something that would work as a substitute for for the bracket. Well I found a couple of things that I think would work well maybe a little over kill, but it just might keep Bill from getting rich $$$ when he starts selling these things So anyone want to know what I found?
I don't see why they couldn't be made to work rich. There would have to be some modification to get them to bolt up in the same location, but yeah, they could work.
I'm trying something that is as simple as I can keep it, but a little stronger than the original.
You'd want to line the ID with something, to keep it from chafing and rubbing through the hose with the engine vibration. Something "sacrificial" like a piece of bike tire or innertube; when it gets worn down by chafing just cut another piece.
I bought some plastic dip this evening to use on what I came up with. I'm just gonna dip the end that the hose goes through. Give me a minute and I'll post a pic of what I have so far.
I was thinking some of the foamy stuff that you slip around water pipes for insulation could work well for that. Like I said though I just briefly looked it over, no warm shop to work in and no spare engines sitting around for a better look I also thought both eyes could be used one on each side of the alternator, just throwing stuff out there mine is still good, but I would like to change it sometime when the weather warms up
