re gearing

hi, I have an 04 supercrew lariat 4x, 5.4 auto. I have a cold air and banks cat-back. I lifted the truck a couple of years ago 6" fab tech and run 35x12.5 toyos. at the time, I also got a programmer and use the 87octaine program. I never liked the way the transmission shifted and now my truck is at ford getting the trans replaced. the truck has 129,000. miles. my question is, should I re gear and what ratio? 4.56? I have no idea what ratio it has stock, and it's not here to go look. I want to make life easier on the trans and truck. and anyone in the greater seattle area have a suggested shop other than randys r&p..I would never use them again.
thanks

You probably have a 3.55 or 3.73 stock. A 4.56 would be a good start even a 4.88 would be good.
