I just purchased a coolant filter system from Sinister Diesel for my 05 F-250 6.0. I still have a 3/36 k warranty on my truck. Does anyone know if installing the cooler if it will void the warranty?
No, it should not affect the warranty on your truck. I had one on my truck when it was under warranty, my dealer's diesel mechanic thought it was a good idea.
also when you cut em open, cut on the bottom side so the metal shavings doesn't corrupt your sample on the inside....wait that didnt come out right.....put in vice and use dremel or hacksaw and start cut at bottom, rotate, and keep blade at bottom...make sense?
If you want a less wasteful way to know when to change coolant filters, just grab the inlet hose with one hand and the outlet hose with your other hand. When you feel a temperature differential it's starting to plug up and it's time to change the filter.
I just ran my first filter for approx 600 miles. Took it off and poured coolant out and only a few tiny flakes in it. Cut the filter open and it was spotless inside.
My father in law is a Ford man however, he told me that I wasted my money buying the coolant filter and I needed to stop listening to others and leave the truck alone. I guess I was hoping for a bunch of crap in the filter to shut him up but am glad it was clean. He had an older pre powerstroke diesel truck that broke a piston so he put a Cummins in and thinks he now ****s in tall cotton.....

I got that too. My 2nd one was dirtier than the first one. Oh well it's working.
That is what counts.
Tell your father in law you'll leave it alone if he pays for the repairs!
LOL. I told him that. He has a friend who has a 6.0 and has had nothing but trouble with it. The same friend told me I was foolish for wasting my money that all I needed to do was an erg delete. I guess the chip he put in it and the heavy toy hauler he tows had nothing to do with it....LOL
