Ok, just replaced my t-stat... that upper CAC tube is a B**ch to get off! Little tip for any that haven't messed with it yet. Take a torch and heat it up a little bit and it'll slide on and off much more easily! Just be careful not to light any residual oil on your engine on fire!

Why did you remove the cac hose? I just removed the air cleaner assembly and had no problem at all.
My t-stat bolts seemed to be rusted on... took a breaker bar to loosen them. No way to get enough force in there with the CAC tube in the way. I like Mike's suggestion for removing the whole elbow... considered doing that, but wasn't sure it was the best thing to do.
Going to chg tstat after new year. Have a long extension and wobble socket so my current plan is to try to remove without moving CAC tube. A quick dry run seemed like everything would work ok. My bolts show a lot of rust also, so have soaked a couple of times with PB Blaster, thought that might help. I need to look around and find out the correct bolts, I would like to put on new bolts when doing the job.
