Just when I thought things were good for my truck, the O/D OFF light starts flashing. It only did it once on my way to work, the entire way. I've read this is like the red circle of death on the xbox. Can any one confirm or give me some sense of peace for my tranny? My friend is bringing an OBDII scanner to see if it threw codes, but the light isnt on any more so it may not work....HELP....!! !
Where are they stored...? My friend used a OBDII scanner and couldnt find them...all checked clear. My truck is shifting pretty hard too. 3.0L 2005 ranger 4x2
Tranny codes are stored in the tranny computer, which most consumer scantools can't access, but most tranny shops will have a high end scantool that'll read them. Post All code Numbers found.
Be sure to correctly check the tranny fluid level & condition. Do it at idle, in "P" or "N", on level ground, after say a 10 mile out & back drive, so the fluid is at operating temp & the tranny has been just been shifted into All gears, including "R" before you read the dipstick.
