2002 7.3 liter. I tried to change my fuel filter, but the cap is stuck. I completely striped the socket on top of it. Any ideas on how to remove it? I tried Chanel locks.... It won't budge.
Use those same channel locks, or a set of pliers and with the ends of the handles placed in the depressions of the cap, put a screwdriver through the middle at the top where the handles meet and the jaws of the tool start (almost like a t-handle) and twist with the screwdriver.

How much of a lip do you have? Is it a fairly wide lip like the cap in the pic? Is there enough to get a good lock on it with an oil filter wrench or a strap wrench?
