Wow, a market not settled down yet. DEF prices today:
1. Phillips station: Bulk, with the DEF hose, $2.69/gallon (have to borrow the magnet from attendant, or, buy one for own use = $20 at a local truck stop)
2. Another truck stop w/o a DEF pump, selling it in 2.5 gallon jugs at $14.99 + tax, or $6/gal plus tax.
3. Ford dealer, Parts Dept: $8.51/gal plus tax!!! (AND, Ford has an adaptor, plastic tube, filler arm, a few more $...but reusable)
Someone's gotta pay for those plastic jugs, and the handling of them, I guess... more than for the DEF in them!
I bought a 2.5Gal jug at autozone or walmart for 11.99 before.
The price might have gone up a couple bucks, but shouldnt be more than 14~15 for a 2.5 gal jug
I BELIEVE that some bulk DEF pump nozzles need a magnet in the trucks DEF tube to activate flow. This is in a attempt to prevent miss fueling (pumping DEF into the fuel tank). At least that is the way I understand it.....
