Sticker shock

Went to the local Ford dealership to see about getting a replacement hanger for my E-350 tail pipe. Mine was broken off where the hanger meets the hose clamp bracket.

Well, guess what. That little ditty will cost you $61!

Went to the Pep Boys up the street from the Ford dealership and bought this baby for all of $4.00 plus another $1.50 for the 3" hose clamp. And... the hanger and the clamp are both made in the USA... so I don't feel so bad buying them.

Pep Boys Stock # 51801

I used the exact combo of parts to support the oil fill tube after the original mounting gave way.

Ford seems to be the cost leader on their OEM parts----as most of us discover in a lot of instances there's a less expensive work-around, sometimes an actual improvement over the OEM design or part!

Thanks for sharing Scooter!

Just wanted to add that there are some dealers that run an online parts business that are significantly cheaper than local dealers. One of the biggest ones out there is Tousley Ford. I believe they sell more parts online than just about anyone, and their prices kill just about everything else I've found for OEM parts. Often they're a good 30-50% cheaper than other dealers.

Tousley is in my area and I bought my 6.7L truck from them, but they are about an hour drive. I called a closer dealer for some suspension bolts that I couldn't match at the local hardware store. They wanted $16 for the bolt and $12 for the nut. I made the drive to Tousley to get them for $5 for the bolt and $2 for the nut.

I highly recommend these guys. Just remember that if you call them to mention that you want their "internet price". The regular price they quote at the counter is closer to what every other dealer uses, but the minute you mention "internet price" they knock ~30% off.
