Newbie cautiously installing ARP studs

Hi,
So I'm a newbie taking on the daunting task of changing out my head gaskets, and I must say I would not even attempt this task without the help of the folks here on this forum. Thanks

I'm here once again looking for some advice. I removed the dummy plugs and standpipes and noticed something peculiar. All of the fittings had an Allen head, which to me indicates updated parts (one piece standpipes and nylon back up rings behind the o rings). When I took the passenger side out, there were no white back up rings, and the stand pipe was two piece.

I head to the drivers side, removed the fittings and now I have a one piece standpipe, and no white back up rings.

I thought to myself the reason might be that with the heater still in place there may not be enough clearance to insert a one piece. I tried and was in fact able to install a one piece standpipe.

I'm wondering if this was done by a tech previously or did the engine come this way from the factory.

I will send some pics when I figure out how to post pictures.

Any insight whether this is normal would be very much appreciated.

The old style stand pipes and dummy plugs also have a female Allen head, if you used a 10mm to get them out they are the old style as the upgraded ones take a 12mm Allen head.

they are all two pieces you just failed to pull them apart. the early stile was a square drive, next came 10mm allen then the last gen with teflon o-rinds were 12mm allen

Also to get the stand pipe in the passenger side you will need to put it through the oil rail and set them in together because you will not be able to get the angle to clear the A/C box if the oil rail is in place first.

Awesome, Thanks for setting me straight. I went back to the standpipe that I thought was a one piece and after closer inspection it turned out to be a two piece.

Thanks for the tip with the heater box, I think the pass side is going to be a pain, but obviously can be done.
