Restoration Book Question..........

Found the book "How To Restore Your Ford Truck" on the Internet, says its $250 new. For a novice doing this project, is it well worth that price or is that's rip off? I love the step by step process it gives in the book and all the information about the history of Ford trucks and their respective engines. Are there better, cheaper books though? I will get a Chilton book but that's not necessarily a how to on restoration.

No way.. that's a rip off..... you'd be better off subscribing to magazines like Mustangs & Fords, Classic Trucks, CarCraft, Hot Rod, and 4-Wheel & Off Road. In fact, Christmas is next week!!! You'd be surprised at all the little tidbits, tips, and tricks that can be applied to almost every vehicle from reading and researching. The web also offers a wealth of information.

Aftermarket manuals? I have both Haynes, Chiltons, and an old Clymer manual. Btwn the three of them, it covers 80 percent of the bases. But nothing beats the factory manuals...Go to a GoodGuys show/swap meet (or online) and pick up a set of factory manuals for around $100.

Agreed, that's a rip-off.
Save your money. ANY question you have or could possibly even think of can be answered here for free. And the answer will probably be more accurate than the book.
Agree with HIO, good manuals are your best friend and you can't beat the factory manuals. Another good reference is the factory parts catalogs. These are available on CD from hipoparts.com for around $22.00. Well worth the money, I actually use these more than the manuals. In the illustrations they show detailed exploded diagrams of each assembly and system in the truck.
