2011 torque shift question

Just bought a 2011 f-250 power stroke and am wanting to know if it is normal for the transmission to downshift into 1st gear when simply slowing down to make a turn of the 90 degree variety? Seems a bit harsh on acceleration then because it immediately wants to start shifting up even in the middle of the turn which makes it want to lunge through the turn. I've tried different approaches with the throttle but can't seem to find a sweet spot. Is this adjustable with the factory tuner? Does it need to be done by a factory tech or am I crazy?

Should add that it has 3.55 gears and is NOT in tow/haul when issue occurs.

Yes. Mine does it as well. But very smooth when accelerating. I have had no issues with mine. It's been a great truck and really pulls my 5th wheel great.

I wish they offered the ability to lock out first gear. I could do without it the majority of the time and if I happen to be in M, I often just start in 2nd anyways.

Now I won't argue with that, but I'm used to it, so it's not a big deal anymore. This truck has so much good, nitpicking at the little things seems senseless.

First gear does seem to simply be a formality. Thanks for the input. It doesn't seem as though it is an issue, just seems a bit odd at times, almost as if it goes from third directly to first when downshifting. LOVE the truck so far. Had it for less than a week and I know I made the right choice when upgrading my 05 f-150. I always thought I had a "truck" until I got this one. Now, after driving this one, I realize that I was kidding myself all those years.
