Also the shocks on it aren't like mine on my truck, i think their like magnus gas shocks or something like that, they're yellow.
are those stock on some of the trucks? really clean truck for an 86, dash never tore apart, got me an uncracked driver side dash panel and an uncracked center instrument panel. fun stuff!
Overload spring pack (aftermarket). Had some like that on my '81 F250 gasser. My 2,300 lb water tank sat BEHIND the axle and it didn't even squat a bit except for tire bulge. Pretty rough ride, but great for hauling heavy stuff. Really good handling when loaded.

The OPs pic looks like a factory overload setup to me whereas John's looks aftermarket.
My 350 SRW only had one leaf as an overload with five mains. That right there looks like it had to be aftermarket or out of something heavier than a one ton.
If you wanted to pick those springs you could. The main stack is almost the same as factory, it would only engage the extra springs with a heavy load on.
My 86 has those, and the stops they ride against are riveted on like a factory setup, so I would say you could also have them on 250's as well from the factory. I have seen others with the same riveted setup. Of course there is the aftermarket units too. However, the pic is an aftermarket setup. The u-bolts around the pack to retain the overloads is how I can tell, mine are under the retaining bracket held by the spring pack u-bolts.
Those are factory on an f250hd my 91 had them used them on the f350 when i put it together it came with a single leaf over load, and yeah it does ride like a tank.
As long as the overloads arent resting on the perches (they shouldnt be unloaded) it would ride as normal, theyre designed so that they take up the extra weight as the suspension compresses. I love them, better than bags in the regard that you dont have to always add / take away air as you load / unload. Theyre there when you need em, gone when you dont.
FWIW, i have to agree with otahyoni, the OP pic looks like factory, so likely swapped on off of something whereas Johns look to be aftermarket. Were the perches for the ones in the first pic riveted to the frame? Even that doesnt garuntee that the overload springs themselves werent just swapped out of something heavier into a pickup that already had over-loads.
I really don't know if mine are factory or aftermarket, but being on a motorhome, I'd think there factory? But my overloads don't have frame mounted bump stops, they're held down with big U bolts at each end to the main pack.
Whatever they are though, they look tired as hell! lol
