Since my daily driver got totaled while parked on the street Tuesday morning and I will be using my 92 F250 for a daily driver I am looking more seriousley at doing a MAF swap.
So the question I have is, is there a difference between the Mustang upper and the truck Upper intakes? Will the mustang upper intake bolt to the truck lower?
Or can I just bolt the single blade MAF throttle body to the truck intake which uses the dual blade throttle body.
Would it work if I used the MAF air cleaner top with a single hose and put the MAF sensor near the air box then made an adapter to go to two tubes after the MAF and use the stock twin blade throttle body?
I am going to start keeping my eyes open for all of the parts I need or maybe a totaled or rotted out parts truck.
Forget about modifying the intake manifold none of the single parts are interchangable between car and truck versions you would have to change the whole intake(upper and lower) to get a single TB style, but that's not necessary anyway to utilize MAF and MAF itself isn't necessary to get gains from these motors either, so maybe start by telling us exactly what powertrain you have first and then we can direct you to what's needed to put more boot in your scoot.
No. The car intakes have round ports where the truck intakes have square ports. The throttle body will no match up. When I have done it in the past I bought a maf and the wire pig tail. I got a PCM from a newer truck (junk yard) and used the ford wiring manual the wire the maf into the computer. To holes are there in the PCM connector they are just left blank. Make your own harness to the maf from the PCM and fire it up. You can put the ground to a fender bolt but leave enough slack for the engine to torque or it with pull out and run like crap. I learned the hard way.
I am thinking of switching it to MAF simply for the increased tuneability of the MAF system for future upgrades. I know for the short term I can upgrade to 1.7:1 rockers or even do a cam swap to a limited number to cams. But switching to MAF gives me a bunch more options

I've been on the hunt for a extra A9L EEC to have as a backup.
Mostly 4cyl in the yards.
At least with mass air they get you everything you need.
You're gonna need to find a truck MAF EEC since you have the E4OD trans, and if you can find that get the airbox cover and Y pipe at the same time. The 5.8 truck intake manifold isn't as big as the 5.0 version but it's bigger than the 5.0 Mustang version so there's no point trying to use that, an Explorer upper on a 5.8 GT40 lower would be a better choice but that lower is hard to find and expensive when you do so you would be better off buying a complete 5.8 Typhoon intake instead, that will get you away from the dual intake tubes and make the Y pipe unnecessary.
