I'm really concerned about this. I bought this truck with 58,900 miles on it and had a 1500 dollar set of tires put on it, Michelin 285/65/18 E rated. I also had the upper and lower ball joints replaced on both sides. I was told only the right upper showed wear but elected to have upper and lower on both sides replaced just so I'd have piece of mind that my front end would be in good shape. I was told that they made reg ball joints and better ball joints so I told them to get the better joints. I had Tire Kingdom here in Charlotte do the work. Now at 66,000 miles I was made aware yesterday that both my front tires are scallopping (sp) and both rear tires feel nice and smooth. I have noticed that at 45mph there is a slight issue that feels like it may be balance. It is not a shimmy but more of an up and down feel. I'm taking it back in to have the tires rotated and the balance and alighnment check Monday at 8 but was wondering if anyone on the forum might have any ideas where the problem might be. To sum it all up, approx. 6000 miles ago I had new tires and ball joints installed and the front end aligned and now have scallopping on my front tires with a slight out of balance feel at 45mph. Also I had been running the tires at 70 psi per the sill plate.
as always, thanks for your information and guidence,
I'd get the alignment rechecked. It seems like there is not to many alignment shops that know how to properly do an alignment. It took me 3 shops to finally get a good one on my old '92 F150 4X4 when I installed a 4" lift kit.Did you check if the balancing weights are still on the wheels?
