i need some review here , has anyone ever installed some of the turanchula speakers from soundstream , or any speakers from soundstream? are they good/bad?
i have the pioneers in my doors also. sound great but do have them running though a amp, plus a couple of subs behind the seat, found out you only need one sub but i had two boxes so i used two. but the pioneers were a big improvement over the stock speakers.
I'd stay away from no-name stuff like that. It sounds like its a flea market brand. Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony, and the like are what I would look at.
Soundstream is actually a quite high-end brand, unlike the Japanese mass-market brands you mention. I have a set of Soundstream SPL 10's in my BMW, I've had them for around 15 years in various cars and they still hit hard. My other recommendations for speakers are Infinity and Polk Audio.
I've never heard of soundstream before this thread, so they might be real "high-end" but they apparently are very widely known. Rockford Fosgate also makes good speakers, as do Kenwood and Sony like TexasGuy said. Audiobahn are alright. JBL are pretty good too.
Anyway, the Pioneers that I have are definitely better than stock. I had them in with the stock head unit and they were very clear, and had excellent highs and mids. I put in a Pioneer head unit (I don't prefer Pioneer over all the rest or anything, I just got a good deal on the speakers and the head unit) and the mids and highs are a little clearer and the lows are a ton better than with the stock unit.
If I was a high end speaker company, I would not name my speakers tarantula. The brand Soundstream may be high end, but I've dealt with a decent number of car audio setups and never seen it.
I have a soundstream 9" touch double din nav system and i absolutely love it. I know its not speakers but i think soundstream is a very good quality company.
Kevin,
I havent heard much good news about the new soundstream products. Used their amps back in highschool but the name was bought out by some other company. Cant go wrong with JL though.

When you consider the company logo is a spider (and a spider is also a part of a speaker,) it makes a little more sense.
