Which of these 2 speakers should I go with?

I don't know much about speakers and can't tell which of these would be nicer...
Kenwood - KFC-P680C
Kenwood - KFC-X683C
Should I get the components and be done with it or should I just go with the eXcelons and get some tweeters separately?

Between those 2 it would be the 680's.

I agree as well the 680's between those two. However I can't stress enough to you to go and listen to speakers at the local shops or at least the box stores. I know you expressed some reservations about that when I posted earlier but that is the only way to buy speakers. You want your system to suit your preference for sound regardless that someone says this brand or that is better. You will hear differences even between speakers of the same brand.

Hey Andey, I'm new to the forum but I figured I would help out where I have expertise. I'm a local engineer in Orlando.

All around the 680's are better speakers. They are less likely to 'max out', they have a wider freq range, and higher RMS.

Thats geek talk for mo'betta! in short, go with the 680's for quality

Thanks for the help everybody. I haven't gotten to listen to any since our local stereo shop doesn't have any 6x8s on display at all. I guess I'll run by Best Buy today.

Be careful where you listen to speakers at. Stores like best buy daisy chain all of their speakers so you're actually listening to poor sound quality on an under-powered speaker

Never purchase anything that you haven't actually listened to.

I just went out and listened to several speaker replacements that I am considering for my superduty diesel with the supercab. Stock are 6x8 and every one I listened to in this size doesn't compare to the sound from a 6 1/2 inch round unit. I found that the speaker with the most accuracy according to my ears and the number of distinct instruments I could make out was the Alpine SPS 600 C which has a separate tweeter. The other one I am interested in is the Infinity Reference 6030CS. I am wondering how these two speakers compare?

You can buy adapter plates or make your own.
