what speakers do you have

Hey all. I am torn between a pair of alpine sps-570a and pioneer ts-g6840r for the front and back of my 97 ranger. I can't find any reviews on the pioneer's but alot of people say the alpines are good. I am lookin for good bass response with good reproduction. I am only running speakers and a stereo because I need to have the super cab acessable(wife and baby).

Neither actually...I'm running infinity kappas, i paid 150 for 2 pr, they're phenomonal in the rangers. If I were picking between the two I'd take the alpines, they'll give better sound quality overall. Don't expect much bass, but it will be much better than with the stock speakers.

I shopped around for a long time before I bought my speakers. I was at ultimate electronics and listened to Infinitys, Rockfords, Alpines, and Boston Acoustics and the speakers that sounded better than any of them were the Boston Acoustics. They are a very good value for the money. I'm not saying the other speakers were bad but when I heard them side by side with the Bostons they just didn't compare. IMO, I'd definetely get the Bostons

I have gone through many brands of speakers, subs, ets (including Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, and even high-end Crystal Mobile Sound) and always come back to Pioneer for the high-end. Unless you plan on doing a full SQ install (including everything other than the speakers) you probably won't even be able to hear a difference and the difference definately doesn't outweigh the cost difference. It has been my experience that Pioneer's work really well, especially in the high-end. Their tweeters pierce through the air like an arrow. I will always swear to Pioneer.

Ya, personally, I'm more of a Polk audio person, unless i had the money to buy some Boston Acoustics or Kappas. Really though, you wont hear much of a difference by changing the speakers, your largest improvement is found in more power (amp, even a small $100 amp)

Trax is right. Most of the distortion you hear from cranking your music loud is from the lack of power from the deck. The best way to go is high capacity speakers with a small amp. As you can tell from my audio equipment so far I'm a pioneer man. I currently have 220W Pioneer 6X9's behind the seats with the 6X8's for the doors in the mail.

'91 Ranger, 2wd, std. cab.
Pioneer 50x2 (RMS) amp to the front Polk Audio 6.5"
30 watt (RMS) 8" enclosed Bazooka tube (sucks for the passenger though, cause due to the tube, the seat has to be far forward)
Panasonic reciever
All cables are top line Monster Cable (no use in having nice equipment if you arent going to have good connections)

So how about you guys? What have you guys been able to stuff into your std. cab Rangers (half comfortably, lol)

I didn't even have 100 miles on my 2000 ranger before I put the system in it

- Alpine head unit
- Phoenix gold 600w amp
- 150(2) to JL Audio XR components in the front doors
- 150(2) to a single JL Audio 12w4 behind the driver seat

it's really an excessive amount of power in such a small space. my back window and interior panels sure rattle a lot more now than they used to. I see a dynamat install sometime in my future... *sigh*

I have all Kicker in my 02 crew cab super duty. K-693 6x9 3 ways in the rear and Kicker RS5 components in the front doors. Both sets needed some metal cutting and a little extra work to install, but it sounds like a home audio system in there with the factory radio. Soon as the weather breaks I'm putting a Kicker KX800 4 channel amp and a Kicker mono amp to fire the 10" Kicker sub.

If you are running the speakers off the HU, and not an external amp, go with the more efficient Pioneers.
