6.8L V10 4x4 w/3.73 9-10 city to 12-13 hwy, average is about 11 mixed. You got two more wheels to chug even with 2wd, so I would say you are about right. Best I have ever gotten out of a tank is 13.2 and that was on a road trip straight hwy miles at 65mph
It sounds like I am running about right.. Really, I can't complain. 10-11 mpg was all that I use to get in my 97 Ram 1500 with a 360.
I need new tires so that may be making an impact.
Not looking for a whole lot. Now pulling my RV with a golf cart in the bed I get 7.5-8.5 MPG. Thats not a whole lot of drop while pulling. I am pretty impressed.
I have a 4x4 CC dually and my overall average is 8.74. This truck is often with my 14k dump trailer in tow. Lowest was 6.93 and highest was 10.61 which would be a full tank of mostly highway. So yes it's right. It's not going to get better no matter what you do. If you want mpg drive like there is an eggshell under the accelerator. I have a used beater car for commuting so I can have fun with the V10!!!
My alignment is slightly off on my truck.
My tires are getting old and need to be replaced in the next 6 months.
Transmission sometimes shifts hard.
Do these things affect MPG?
Would an economy tune do anything for me (from Five star?)
I know I am beating a dead horse here but I have 2 vehicles currently.
1) V10 Towing monster
2) 2000 Lincoln Town Car (18-21 MPG)..
The biggest issue for me is that I hate driving the Town Car and much prefer to drive my Dually.
If I could get to 13 MPG I could justify the 5 mpg difference to myself and just sell the Townie.
Ahh, decisions decisions. I thought about selling my Truck and my TownCar and getting a 7.3 PSD... Ya'll should tar and feather me for that one. I just love how my V10 doesn't stink or that I can work on pretty much anything on this beast.
PS I drive about 80 miles per day. LOL
Yeah, I know, sell the Town Car and buy a Honda Civic. LOL

Reason: left off more stuff
I have an 80 mile daily (M-F) commute and cannot justify a near $600 a month fuel bill just to drive the vehicle I like more. 13mpg on a gas dually??? I know yours is 2WD but I just can't imagine that happening and even if it did it would not be the norm. Pumping up you tires to max pressure can help but hold onto your teeth. I could care less if you sold all of your stuff for a 7.3. But that truck at a minimum would be 10 years old. Things need to start being replaced/repaired at that age. Those things could nickel and dime your fuel savings to nothing. Also I bought my beater Taurus last year and last month it "paid for itself" in fuel savings. If someone has a SuperDuty and then spends $15k on a car to save mpg needs to have their head examined. Not saying you did that but I've seen that on here. Just like the guy with the paid off V10 goes and buys a $50,000+ diesel to "save" on mpgs. Drive the town car or work on getting an even trade with a gas sipper. Makes driving the V10 with a heavy right foot much more fun.. Make the V10 your tow beast & Friday vehicle. Or fork over $500+ a month for gas.....
I have a 2004 F250 CC 4WD longbed with 3:73 gears, 285/75-16 tires, CAI, 5 star tuner with y-pipe conversion and I get 12.5 combined mpg. 15.5-16 HWY at 70mph cruise control on and 12-13 City. I do more city driving than hwy.
BTW don't be hatin' but Gas is 2.77 gallon here.
