PCV valve problems

I decided to change the PCV valve today on my 82 and I found only one hose going to it. The PCV valve plugs into the valve cover and it has one big hose that leads from the carb to the bottom connector on the PCV. Can't seem to remember what the other 5/16" hose goes to.

I used to have an 84 300 I-6 that had one like that. The other hose , if I remember correctly went to a solenoid valve then to the intake manifold or maybe ported vacuum. Do you still have the vacuum diagram sticker under the hood? That should show it.

ON BOTH MY TRUCKS THE PVC VALVE ONLY HAS ONE HOSE GOING TO IT. BUT VALVE IS MADE FOR MORE THAN ON AUTO THEREFOR MAY HAVE AN EXTRA HOLE THAT YOU JUST PLUG WITH A PLUG THAT COMES WITH IT

Well, yes I do have the sticker under the hood, but I wasent sure what it listed as the PCV, "Purge CV?"
It is an auto c6 and the PCV did not come with any plug and the old one was the same way.

The electric Canister Purge (CanP) solenoid valve is different from the vacuum-operated Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve. It sounds like you ended up with the wrong replacement valve for your application. Have a parts store look it up for you and see if the vacuum map shows 2 lines going to the PCV.

That's why you should look at your vacuum map.

I agree with Laviathn, it's just a "multi-application" PCV valve. Mine was the same when I bought it. There was a plug molded into the plastic between the two ports that you have to break off to plug the top one if it's not used.

PCV valve problems

Well, I did cap off the top plug on the new PCV valve but it did not fix my problem, so.
I get oil pressing its way out between the breather seal and the valve cover. It only does it at like around 2000 RPM and more. Its very anoying because of the smell of burnt oil on the manifolds.
Any ideas?

For any engine, the lowest cylinder should have at least 75% of the highest and at least 85% of any adjacent cylinder. All plugs should be out before starting, and the throttle should be blocked open for the whole test. If any cylinder is low, shoot a teaspoon of engine oil into it and retest. If it comes up, the rings are bad - otherwise, it's a head leak.
