Okay 96 f150 with a 99 explorer 5.0 motor in it.. It has gt40 intake gt40x Eads and shorty headers I want a cam that has a non stock sounding idle.. I like the sound of the cammed idle but then again I don't want it to die off cause it's so rough I'm looking at this Howards Cams Retrofit Hydraulic Roller Camshafts 220225-12 - Mobile SummitRacing.com
Info. from the link you posted: "Computer-Controlled Compatible:No"
The LSA is too small to get it to run good without a tune. A camshaft that has an LSA of 114 or greater will work with your stock EFI without the need for a tuner or custom chip.
I'd consider a cam that has a closer to stock profile to keep the power down low in the rpms unless you are going to run a higher stall torque converter and lower gears.
Lobe seperation angle alone doesn't make a cam computer compatable or not, it the combination of total duration and LSA that does it. In the big picture that Howards cam isn't that radical so I don't see it being a problem for an OBD-2 MAF computer to handle, the thing I don't like about is it's a retrofit cam which may place the lifters too low in the bores, and if they drop below the dogbones there will be nothing to prevent them from turning and potentially destroying the motor. I made another cam suggestion in the other thread the OP has going that is ground on a standard core so it'll be safe in this motor.
