What size and brand tires work good on the Excursion?
I have a 2002 4x4 7.3 liter limited. I was thinking about these: Purchase Goodyear Wrangler Tire for less at Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.. Does anyone have experience with this tire?
What is the difference between limited and limited premium Excursion?
I do want to keep stock rims.
Those will fit on a standard X rim.
They appear to be D rated tires though and my preference is E rated for the weight and towing. The price on these are equivalent to transforce firestone e rated, so I don't see any real discount. Just mho.
It's your truck... But it's a Load D tire that Goodyear makes specifically for Walmart to likely fit in their price niche. Probably a good tire for a Jeep or Xterra...but I wouldn't expect much on a truck that weighs close to 8k lbs. Good luck!

Those are Walmart exclusive tires and they chip away at the edges. Not very well designed. Good year duratracs on the other hand are my favorite tire I've ever had. Next on my list to try on my excursion are the hankook dynapro mt's.
Can't say enough good things about the Michelin LTX M/S2.
And with a load range D tire- it'll be a much softer ride and it'll just seem wobbly on the road. It's hard to describe but if feels like you're driving on gel shoe inserts compared to the E's. And that's comparing two of the same brand/model tire.
Early next year I'm gonna have to buy another set of Toyo Open Country AT's for the Ex.
Stewart
How do the Toyo's AT compare to BF Goodrich AT?? I like the BF's and have had a few vehicles with them on, but they are expensive and for my Excursion I will only be covering about 5000 miles a year. Toyo have AT's in 275/65r20 with 3750lbs rating which would probably suit what I want well - although I need to look further into having a 34" tire on the Ex...
Edit: - just checked the prices and Toyo's are only $10 cheaper than the BF's in that size! Will have to see if there is a better price for an AT that takes a high load and wont give me bad mpg!
