is the triangular shape thing with the 3 ***** on the pulley supposed to turn all the time when truck is running? 97 ford f250 5.8
plus had alternator rebuilt, new brushes, bearings, and rotor. still has the battery light coming on and gauge showing low
It's supposed to cycle on and off with the A/C on. You may have a low charge if it's spinning continuously. Turn the A/C off and see if it stops turning. If not, then the clutch is seized and not disengaging. Time for a new clutch or compressor at that point.
ok thanks! it doesn't turn all the time, it kicks in and out with the a/c on and off. just wondering because i've heard belt squealing seems to be coming from that point
i dont think the belt is slipping. the tensioner is 5 years old also, i replaced smog pump, belt, idler pulley and tensioner all at the same time. i have to replace the idler pulley again, darn plastic one is about worn out already..
I like the name Gatorback...I seen the Dayco belt on auto zones website, and watched a video on the belt, its a new belt Dayco designed. It looked like a good belt. They also have a no slack idler pulley i'm thinking about getting, its made out steel. The good thing is they say Dayco is made in the USA
