I have been looking online at an 89 f-250 4x4 with an inline 6. The owner says it doesn't run because it needs a new fuel modulator. I have no idea what he's talking about. Can anybody shed some light on what a fuel modulator is and where it's at?
I talked to the guy, he said they ran out of gas on one tank, when it quit they just kept trying to start it and that burned out the modulator.
None of it makes much sense to me. He says the truck won't start now with gas in either tank.
Sounds to me like the intank lift pumps aren't working , the 1989 uses 3 pumps , one in each tank and a high pressure pump on the chassis .
I would check for fuel pressure on the injector rail it should be near the number 1-2 cylinder on the passenger side of the engine . It looks like a valve on a tire to add air .
