Alternator not charging, help!.

Here's some more "Thoughts''...
My truck took a similar streak a while back...Would randomly stop charging, for no reason at all...
And it turned out to be a corroded ground, where the battery grounds to the fender.
Follow the short ground wire on the - side of the battery...
Also, make sure the Green "Exciter" Wire is getting voltage, in the upper wiring pigtail on your Alternator.
You have 2 Pigtails on the Alternator, the lower one is the Power handler, and the upper one simply tells it to "Turn on", etc...
Just 2 more avenues of thought to try, that are quick and easy.

Well, I ruled out the belt, also opened the alternator, there is a concave grove were the old brush was lost, but I see no signal of arcing or anything burnt. Could this still be the cause of the failure? should I replace the whole rotor or is there any way to replace the rotor axle alone?. I'm starting to think replacing the alternator is my best bet.

Sorry... double posted...
Might try this: http://www.alternatorrebuildkits.com...rnator-part-4/
I found out the part in the alternator axle is called the Slip Ring. And right now it's the most probable cause, if not it still had to be replaced, I'll fix this alternator and use it until I get a RJM 160A large case, then it will either go up for sale or if possible will be installed in my dad's 1969 T-Bird.

Ok, problem solved, the worn slip ring created an arc that burned the regulator. I got a new rotor (they just won't sell you the slip ring alone around here) with a new rear bearing and a new regulator and now it's all working just fine, $44 spent including labor, I took the alternator to their shop. Also added some washers (2 per bolt) under the alternator and now the sepentine belt has a perfect/tight fit.
Thanks all of you guys for the ideas and help.
