I've this exact problem with the 3rd brake light out and CC not working. This happened when we did my E4OD to ZF5 swap on my old ECLB. Cruise didn't work when we got it all hooked back up, even after doing all the proper wiring mods...but my 3rd brake light was out. For gits and shiggles we replaced the 3rd brake light, and walla! CC worked. We heard it was part of the on board diagnostics Ford implemented. What year is your truck again Daniel?
Unfortunately, several months later my cruise mysteriously stopped working one day (actually, it was right after I had my clutch master cylinder rod break off and I had to replace all that). Never could figure it out. Maybe the Clutch Interlock Switch went bad. Then, when we swapped all the ZF stuff into my new CC, the cruise in it didn't work either. It worked before. We did swap over the steering wheel pad and the clutch switch...so I'm thinking it's one of those. Haven't had time to figure it out though.
He's talking about the 3rd brake light on the rear of the cab. In the middle of the cargo lights
Really?

Did you install and connect the switch on the clutch pushrod on the CC truck? You could try jumpering it; it's the two terminals closer to the driver on the connector, when it's plugged into the switch.

Yes, we did connect the clutch interlock switch - the same one that was on the EC (which the cruise worked on for awhile). I suppose I could try jumpering the wires...that would at least let me know if that's the problem. I wouldn't want to leave it like that though, because that first connection (when you barely push the clutch in) is what cancels the cruise, IIRC. I'd still want that to be functional. But like I said, it might tell me if that's the problem. I have suspicion that it's something to do with the steering wheel pad, for some reason. Seems like the CC is tricky to troubleshoot. Maybe it's just me!
Not yet I'm super busy. Working 6 days a week. But I may try tonight !! I gotta do my thermostat housing tonight plus work on my dirt bike !(after work, in the dark , in the snow!!!)
