I have just started considering purchasing a excursion, but am curious if you can remove the third row seat and lay the back seats down and have a flat surface to carry cargo?? thanks for your help guys.

Yes you can! I use an air mattress in the back and sleep on occasion too. 3rd row comes out in 2 .seconds and the middle row seats fold down flat with the floor!

It's the only vehicle I am aware of that can carry a full 4x8 sheet of plywood, sheetrock or whatever with the rear doors closed and the back seat out and rear seats folded flat. And that's with the spare tire still in there

Yep lot's of room, my 3rd seat has been in the garage since I brought the truck home. Often camp out in the back and better then a tent with the power outlets around and even carry my kayak in the back as well with the front pass seat moved forward it just barely fits. Love this truck!

My carpet was out for some "work" during this photo but huge amounts of space with 3rd seat out and middle folded down. Moved two kids college in August everything they owned including two beds, two dressers, two tv's, two fridges, two microwaves all personal belongings, (probably some beer stashed somewhere I didn't know about and even had room to stuff my ex husband along for ride.

10 ft lumber fits if you have something toin feed it up onto
the center console between the front seats.
I had a load of lumber and then slide the 10ft lumber
on top. 3 guys loading a pickup struggled to tie
the lumber down and just watched as i shut the rear doors
And drove away... in the rain. All my lumber nice and dry.

Had mine filled right up to the ceiling once too with container boxes. Something like 160 boxes all together at a total of around 1600lbs plus a car trailer with an extended cab F250 pickup also filled with the same boxes.

I have also hauled some 4x8 stuff with the mini van.
