Ok..since I'm sooo close to dropping in the engine..I gotta move my perches forward a slot. I was cutting the old perch bolts out with a cutter wheel..before it shattered...I plan on doin the rest this weekend. Anybody got any good tips to get the bolt out that's under the manual steering box? How hard is it to rebolt? Or should I line the holes up and just weld em in?
Can you just unbolt the steering gear and lift it up enough to get to the bolt. I would not weld it in, as often as i change engines around in my trucks , i would want it so i could move it again i the future.
Yes..I'm going from a 360 to a 300 that I rebuilt. New cam..intake..lifters..springs..timing gears..dual exhaust..etc. my friend had one that they pulled from his 70 so I got a good deal on the engine. Anyhoo..so I need to move them forward.
I've had some of the holes line up when I went the other way, six to FE. I see no problem welding them in. Welds can be un-done too if need be later on.
