Internal Oil Leak

Last week my early 99 left me on foot in the next town over. Had roadside assistance tow it into the local dealer since I don't know a soul that works on trucks in this new town. 800 dollars later I have two new glow plugs and a new glow plug relay. Fast forward one week and all the symptoms are back. Slow to start, like cranking a full 30 seconds (harder when warm) and then when I get out of work to head back to the dealer it will not start and i have to get towed in again.
Now the dealer is telling me that there seems to be an "internal oil leak" or possibly the HPOP is gone so that the injectors are not getting the oil pressure they need to work properly.
Does this sound plausible? I guess i can buy the HPOP going out, the truck does have 225,000 miles on it but an internal oil leak? Long story short it is looking like another 1000 dollars to get Betty back on the road. Unless someone here can come up with a better idea.

i know but they also have not reached the point in trying to figure out the problem yet where they are sure its only the HPOP.

I think you need somebody that knows something about these trucks. The HPOP sounds plausible, especially with the no start warm. I'm thinking you have a leak on your rail as opposed to your HPOP. Have you checked the fluid in your HPOP?

I have not checked anything since it is at the dealer. I dont really have a place where i can work on the truck here in northern iowa. Since I was last towed out of my work parking lot it just went to the dealer.

You know dealers...I've got 51,000 miles on my '11 dodge 5500 work truck. According to the dealer, it needs new upper ball joints, which are not covered by the warranty because they are a wearable item. I can buy new upper ball joints for $106.99ea. And change them myself in a day, but the dealer wants $1600. Anyway, try unplugging the ICP to see if it fires up.

I'll see if I can get into their service area tomorrow and see what happens after unplugging the ICP.

Got the truck back at she runs great. The injector O rings on the left bank were replaced. While they had it they upgraded my computer. The only problem with that is i hadn't uninstalled my superchips tow tune. Talked to superchips today and my particular programmer is so old it cannot be upgraded. So I am going to be looking for a replacement device. What are my options without spending another boat load of money?

I hope someone either backs me up or corrects me, but I've read on here several times about the Dp Tuner. It covers the things the others leave behind.

Hope you got gauges. For something that big you're going to need them. Tow tunes are funny, make sure you get one where the tuner knows the weight of your trailer. I know Barney went to PHP because he didn't have to worry about EGT"S. His trailer is also very big. DP is good but EGT's will spike. You going to need a better turbo to.

Gauges are on the radar before the tuner. I already upgraded the intake and exhaust so gauges are the next logical step
