We started at a dealer like you list above. Salesman scurries off to some unknown place where he comes back with a paper with blue marker on it and some numbers written down (this is a large Denver-area dealer). They pumped me full of BS on the trade-in but refused to show us numbers on the new one WHILE also refusing to stop giving me a monthly payment. After an hour of requesting out-the-door cost and numbers, we finally got it only to see how they were recouping my trade. We left after 3 hours.

Second dealer is my local dealer. Walked in there telling them the stock number I wanted, pointed to my truck and said I was at the first dealer a month ago and it took me this long to recoup my sanity. In 35 minutes I had my trade amount, all the numbers broken down and ready to go, all it needed was the spousal blessing.

Not sure what you're trading, but I was dealing with a 2004 6.0l that I owned outright, kept in great condition, and wasn't going to part with without someone providing me an intelligent value.

I look forwards to not having to talk to a dealer for another 8-10 years, as I'm sure you will too.

Why not throw the truck on craigslist and see if you get any bites. It's free, and could yield you thousands more than what a dealer's going to give you.

Typical. I love when dealers pull that crap. When I bought mine I had my laptop out and excel spreadsheets open running the numbers myself. After spending days emailing the sales douche and negotiating via email the sales douche wanted to start the nego all over again when I finally went to the dealership. I sternly told him I would only continue with the numbers we had discussed via email, then asked to speak with his manager, who then brought me the paper with the blue marker...that showed a monthly payment and assuming $20K down. I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my seat. They tried every trick in the book including:
"It has a special comfort and convenience package with nitrogen in the tires - $1000. Also the destination charge on the sticker only covers delivery to the port of Houston, we then have to pay another $1000 to get it to the sales lot...its standard sir." BS. When I told them I needed to call the regional Ford rep to confirm the delivery charge they took it off as a "favor", just for me, only good for today. Douchy.

I really love running those guys around in circles.

If you sell privately, make sure you're taking into consideration the tax savings you'll get when trading. You'll only pay sales tax on a portion of the new truck's value when trading. If they're offering say $20,000 and you're saving $1,500 in taxes, you'll have to sell privately for at least $21,500 to break even. Just reference figures.

So my local dealer just called me again to give me even more on my trade in..

09 Silverado LTZ with 48000 miles. So now They are offering me 29500 for it.

I'm just stuck on the KR... it wasnt really what i was looking for, and this dealer is trying hard to push it on to me because its been sitting in the lot for a long time... All i want is a '12, black leather, heated/cooled seats and i'm fine with the rest. I feel like the KR takes 5k right out of the negotiations.... So now i'm at 29500 for a trade in, and 53xxx for the KR (1FT8W3BT5CEA00772) with no Navi.

Wait. No nav? I had a dealer down to $51,600 on a LOADED KR. Sun roof, nav, heated/AC seats, bed liner and I got them to include the block heater cord, which they do not come with.

Any chance you could go x plan or something. Are you a veteran? I like that the best because they have to show you the computer print out with all the numbers and then the price is already there from ford.

Having no Nav would not be a deal breaker for me.

That seems to be where i'm at right now...

I did find a 2011 yesterday with 11k miles on it. Black on black fully loaded. I'm going to talk to them this week and see how much i can get them down off of their ridiculous starting price of 52999.

Expect a high interest rate as its a Used Unit. No rebates.
