Excursion with PHP chip no start

Hey there guys. I just bought the PHP and installed in my 2000 PSD excursion and the Theft light flashes fast and no start. When i take the chip out, the excursion runs normal again. When the chip is installed, the theft light blinks rapidly, the WAIT TO START light WORKS its just it wont start. I have done the resetting of the PATS and still no go. I have cleaned the PCM a bunch of times with acetone and qtips/toothpick and I dont want to get the connections too thin. Any ideas guys?

What was Bill's response when you contacted PHP? What was the response when you posted in PHP's forum?

LOL!

Sorry man, not laughing at you, just at the irony of the situation.

Are you sure you're banned? Maybe you just haven't activated your membership log-in or something?

Also, I'm gonna move this to the 7.3L PSD forum since this is a diesel specific question.

Yeah, it makes sense, but you'll get more of a chance getting help from someone that knows PHP products or is a customer, over here in the 7.3L forum.

Re-register under a different name?

I have cleaned it thoroughly about 5 times. The copper is almost showing from me cleaning it over and over.

Try not to worry about the contacts as much as in between them.

I like to use a brass brush at first, then another tip I found was to use a toothpick in between the contacts to remove the silicone, then a quick scratch overall with the scotchpad.

at first i used the scotchpad, then the brass brush with acetone, then a knife then went back with the brass brush then with scotchpad again. I also just bought new batteries just incase since I am already due for new batts anyways.

It was just another thought, really.

Could have something to do with the PATS system, I'm not very familiar with it, guess you will need to try to contact PHP...

From time to time, a programmer will trigger the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) on an Excursion, Lightning, Mustang, or other PATS equipped vehicles. This is caused by a loss of communication between the PCM and the PATS module which triggers the PATS module to go into "THEFT" mode and disable the PCM for a period of time. Some vehicles are more sensitive than others in regards to what triggers the PATS system with some vehicles triggering it during some sessions and not in others.

In the event that this does occur and the "THEFT" light is flashing, use the following procedure to restore vehicle functionality.
Turn the key to the "ON" position, but do not attempt to start the vehicle.
The "THEFT" light will begin flashing rapidly (twice a second). After about 60 seconds, the "THEFT" light will stop flashing rapidly and begin a sequence of slow flashes (usually 1 blink, followed by 6 blinks).
Turn the key to the "OFF" position and completely remove the key from the ignition and hold at least two feet away from the steering column for 30 seconds.
Insert the key and turn to the "ON" position. Wait for the normal engine checking procedure to take place. The "THEFT" light should no longer be flashing. At this point you should be able to start the vehicle.

You have done this already? Sounds like a PATS problem to me

.....makin' me log in to FTE for number 3,001, huh? Awesome.

Yep. This is a problem that reared it's ugly head after Bill recently went through the tuning and applied a few changes across the board for the "standard" calibrations. Since all of the calibrations were rebuilt from stock again, the PATS "switch" was inadvertently left in the enabled state. I'm expecting a return of one more Excursion chip within the next couple of days to fix the exact same thing. It's been taken care of since the two chips shipped, but unfortunately yours was one of the two that flew out under the radar.

You will have to ship it to me. Email me at cody@phptune.com and I'll give you the address. I'll have it turned around in a day for you.

I am sorry for the inconvenience....and please don't "clean" any more off of the PCM.
