Just finishing up a restoration on a 1970 ranger xlt. It had a underdash a-c unit that took up the space for the glove box.I am leaning towards a system that allows me to have the glove box.Has anyone had experience with classic auto air or old air products that could lean me towards one or the other
Well, I had one of these systems (original in my '71) and it worked pretty well and didn't cost too much to fix. But if you must replace it (originality is always cool) most of the a/c vendors are pretty good. Depending on where your located, you could try the shop in houston that I use, South Texas Truck Air. I bought brackets for my 223 and I'm going to buy hoses/condenser/evaporator when my truck is closer to drivable. Be sure to shop around, some vendors are kinda overpriced.

(also, your in the 61-66 forum, the 67-72 forum would suit your truck better)
Thanks 62 stepside.I'll take your advice on shopping around but i like the idea of a newer more compact unit that allows me the use of my glove box. Thanks again sandmanf250
I used the old air in my 69 chevy truck and it worked out very, very nice. I highly recommend them. By the way does anyone make a sanden a/c bracket for a 240 ford?
I'm in the process as we speak of installing an aftermarket air unit in my 63 F100, 223 ci. I'm using the Hot Rod Air kit, which uses an Alan Grove bracket (Chevy one for my 223, Thanks to Forum folks for showing me how!). The Evaporator fits beautifully where my glove box was (the glove door makes hook up easy!), I just cut the firewall holes for the heat and air hoses today, and have all my vacumn valves mounted, and the condesnor mounted (get the 18 x 24"). The wiring comes all done and hooked up, good directions. I'm impressed with this kit for $795.00 complete! Try hotrodair web site. My bracket would have been $80.00 extra (cocts more than a SBC one) but the shop I bought it threw it in. I'll have new heat, new dehumidified defrost, and air! I was taking step by step photos until my brand new Canon A70 Powershot crapped out after 41 days!! Glad to share any info, answer any questions I am..<buellb@gvtc.com>
