ok so since i found out my heads were cracked i got a set of new heads i believe they are cj heads. i was told they came off a 5?? ci stoker motor in a pulling truck. he had half a season on them. so this is what they have done to them: 2.19/1.75 valves, 3 angle valve job, pocket work? decked .010, professional port and polish, and the intake and exhaust runners widened and worked. the cast numbers are C8OE-6090-N. so is there anything else that needs done to them or are they ready to go on my 428 block
Yes they are CJ-SCJ heads. You want to mock them up to be sure the 1.75's don't hit the cyl bore. Good thing they have the std FE valve spacing and might clear depending on the 428's bore size and notching it possibly.
Well you'd really want to check to be sure the valves are not hitting the cylinder bore. In some case you can notch the sides of the bore to gain some clearance Something you want to check.
Unless you bore the cylinders to unshroud the valves, even notching the block will not improve flow.
Notching the block only makes clearance for the valves.
The valves are way to big for a stock bore.
You will get better flow with smaller valves, like a 2.15 intake and a 1.66 to 1.70 exhaust.
With your setup, stock 2.09 intake and 1.66 exhaust would work better.
You would have to bore your block to at least 4.160 for good air flow with your valves. I would not recommend boring beyond 4.170 and then only after the block was sonic tested.
Sorry for the bad news,,, but you asked for information.
