I am doing the weather stripping on my 1955 f100. and I have a few questions.
1] The weather stripping has two sides. One side is rounded, and he other has a channel that looks like a upside down t. Which side do you glue down to the door?
2] Does the door have to be removed when installing weather stripping?
3] If i have to remove the door. Do i unbolt it from the cab? or can I take off the small panes near the door hinges. And unbolt there?
In general door removal - remove two cover plates, I found the best way is
for someone outside holding the door tight while someone removes the six
bolts then carefully remove. Same way to install (two people). As far as
weather stripping, that depends where it came from. If repro oem style,
thats kind of self explanitory they only go on one way. We use weather
stripping 25 ft rolls from Napa, which is close as close can be and they are
glued on the back of rubber where it is at a 90* angle, with the lip outward
to seal against the cab surround. Although it is possible not to remove the
door but doing the front ? that will be a big glue mess.
Ok i glued the weather stripping channel side to the door. Rounded side of weather stripping facing out. Also there are two inspection plates on the door. These plates are held on by four screws. And then its 6 bolts and the door comes off.
