fuel issues...

hey all,

My truck wont start. 1984 F250 6.9l Automatic. I have bypassed my water seperator mounted on the firewall. I have changed the orings and return lines for the injectors also. When depressing the schrader valve while cranking I only have a little bit of fuel come out. The fuel filter is fuel of ATF. I even checked twice, by taking it off and making sure it was full. I tried starting the truck afterwards and she started but didnt run long. I loosened the supply line from the lift pump to the filter head and have fuel coming out when cranking but very litte fuel out of the schrader valve unless I crack a supply line loose then the air pushes the fuel out. Could my filter be blocked, its not very old ?

I hope this makes sense ?

I posted this on Oilburners to get more opinions as well.

Try replacing lift pump on the side of the motor.... your should have 1/3 pint in 10 sec or 5 to 7 psi. At the schrader valve.

Try taking the core out of the scrader valve so you dont have to hold it and crank until the fuel sprays out of the valve

If the problem still exsits 2 other things to look at are the selector valve that switches tanks...... also verify that you have more than 1/4 tank in each tank... it is possible that each pick up tube on the intank sending unit is crack and not picking up and fuel at that point.....

Well that shows that there is a lot of air in the system .... u can fill the fuel filter with either diesel or atf to aid in refilling the system....then purge the air out by removeing valve core until fuel reaches the shra der valve. Just put a hose on the shrader nipple and let it flow into a bottle so it does not make a mess than u can put it back in your tank after its full and running.... also keep in mind that your cuel filter should remai. Full over night after driving. So say you pull the filter todays from now and it is not full when you spin it off that shows that diesel if flowing back to the tank via return line caps makeing the system lose prime and being a b&/&)! To start ........

Ill remove the schrader valve and hook up the battery charger tomorrow and crank and crank and crank lol. i know not to crank more than 30 seconds and then let the starter cool for at least 2 minutes....I thought about hooking up an electric pump inline to help prime/bleed the system

Truck was falling on its face when running and missing out. It would die, while running as if it was sucking air or running out of fuel

Crack all the injector lines while cranking and it will purge the air out of the ip . Loosen each nut ontop of the injectors 1/2 a turn and crank until fuel comes out of the lines....

Put the scrader valve back in and try cranking with the injectors crack..... or put a hose on the inlet of the fuel pump and put it in a 5 gal gas can and crank to see if everything fills up.... if so that means you have something going on with your tank....
