What is supposed to go between the inner front fenders and the front fender, antisqueak or welting? I know that the rear fenders use welting but not sure on the front.
Thanks for any help.
Anti-squeak is used where the front end pieces connect to the fenders and valances, but I don't remember anything between inner fenders and the fenders?

I just sandblasted my inner fenders last weekend. There was remnants of a fabric type welt on the mounting surface for the fenders. It was actually stapled in place. It looked like an original factory-type job. It might not be original, but I'd HIGHLY doubt the cooty-bobbers who "fixed" my 50 in the past did it that nicely.
When I took everything apart I just can't seem to rember if there was anything between the fender and inner fender. It seems that all of the other spots where there was metal to metal that there was something sandwiched between.
When I took mine apart it appeared that at one time there was a type of canvas fabric with a roll at the top in between the inner and outer fenders. Mind you it was barley there in most spots. It was rotted away and looked like mice ate what was left of it.
