Fender welt

Do you have to use Fender welt on the rear fenders and running boards, I don't like the rib that sticks out. Thanks

The 53-56's never came with fender welt on the rear fenders, I dont know about the 48-52's. What I use I call dum dum its like silly putty. Actually I think its called ANTI SQUEEK. It comes in a roll and is easy to work with and fills any voids between two pieces of metal for a good seal. I would think a good paint-body suppy store would have this.

Yes--it comes in rolls and can be cut any length and is squeezable to conform to the fender. Bill

I use to have the welting on my rear fenders and hated the look of it between the bed and fenders. I removed it and didn't put anything on. I don't have squeeks, rubbing etc.

Couldn't you just trim off the exposed lip portion? I think it was originally intended to seal the seam between the two parts?

If you really want to use something and avoid the lip portion, get an old inner tube from a bicycle and cut strips of the rubber. You can insert that and it's thin enough were you won't see anything.
