$2000 spark plug change

Hey guys I figured I would share the truck I just got finished working on. The owner took it to a independent shop to get the plugs changed. They broke #3 and in the process of removing it they drove the ground shield further into the head. Also the 2 plugs they managed to changed has so much anti-sieze on them they were sure to misfire. It was everywhere, on the coil boots, the hex on the plug, and completely covering the plug from the top of the threads to the bottom of the ground shield. I had to pull the cylinder head and drive the broken plug out in 2 pieces. The porcelain came out through the combustion chamber side and I had to fold the end of the metal shield over with a punch and drive it out through the coil side. The plug was so far into the combustion chamber the electrode hit the piston and made a small mark in the center. Moral of the story, don't let amateurs change your spark plugs unless you have a fat wallet.

The other shop is liable for their shoddy work.

I agree but that's between the owner and the shop.

Of course, yes.

I was just making a statement of obvious fact.

It really is sad.

It's a very common practice when there's is major engine work to be done.

You should see an Excursion with the body off.
