Sync Services

I purchased a new 2013 F150 and I am having difficulty setting up the Sync Services (turn by turn navi, etc.). My understanding is that we get 3 years of service at no charge with the purchase of a new vehicle, but when I log on it looks like I have to pay $60 per year. Does anyone know if these services are free for the first 3 years?

I did not have to pay for mine on two trucks. Was free for 3 years. Check the Sync website and if it don't work just give them a call.

Here is the login website for Sync:

I just called Ford and apparently if you do not have Sync with MyTouch, Sync Services is $60 a year. The 3 years of free services does not apply unless you also have MyTouch.

I don't have Mytouch and I got 3 free years of Sync Services. I don't use it very often, so I probably won't renew. I do like being able to plan my Saturday college football watching schedule though...Go Irish!

Maybe they changed it with the 2013's?

Your dealer should have set all of this up for you during the delivery process. That's how Ford wants this to happen as SYNC is their new baby and they want the dealers to pay as much attention to it as possible. The Nav portion of SYNC is supposed to be free for three years on new vehicle purchases.

Is it free for 3 years even if you do not have Sync with MyTouch? The reason I ask is I called Ford and I was told it's free only if you have Sync with MyTouch, which I do not.

ugh...

Sorry! SYNC Services is not available for this vehicle (SYNC® Services may be unavailable if your vehicle was released before 2009, if your vehicle was purchased outside the United States or your vehicle is equipped with a navigation system.)

once again us Canadians get shafted..

My three years of ownership will be here in 2 months and I havent got any kind of renewal notice yet. Will they tell me I have to renew and pay or do they just cut it off without warning?

I think they renew it automatically, then bill you for it unless told otherwise... I know I had to agree to a new user's policy last Summer, which came up when I decided to use Sync services after a break of use.

As it is, my initial subscription is still active. I've registered with SYNC, but haven't used any of their services. Is it worth the hassle of muddling through their website? I think I'm supposed to use my laptop to download into the onboard SYNC. I don't think the turn by turn thing would be anything I'd use since I prefer to know where I'm going by using a real map.
Truthfully, I haven't spent much time trying to figure it out. Is it worth my time time/effort, and in three years pay for it?

Sync can come in handy, however, I would never rely on it alone for directions. The Sync my ride website is a P.I.T.A. to navigate though. Its not user friendly to say the least. With that said (er..I mean typed) I do want to renew my Sync services and dont want an interuption of service. Is there anything I will have to do on my end?
