Charging System Warning Light on intermitently

An alternator can "bench test" good, but still cause an intermittent charging light. Usually, this is an indication that one or more of the diodes inside the alternator has failed.

The bench test doesn't always get the alternator up to high enough rpm's to show issues, I've come across this a number of times. I agree with the others, you need a new alternator. If you decide to get a new one, have them bench test it before you leave the store, I've had gotten bad ones right off the shelf before.
