I am looking for a nice replacement antennae for my '66 Ford F100. I seem to recall from a previous post that p.n. C3AZ-18813-C (intended for '64-'64 Ford Galaxies) will fit, but $67.50 seems a bit pricey to me. Any suggestions (other than a metal wire coat hanger) will be greatly appreciated.
Carolina Classics has that antenna for $55.00 (was $52.50 about a month ago). I saw an NOS one sell for $270 just recently. Now THAT is a bit pricey...
The key to getting it right is the base of the antenna. Cars used a flatter base compared to our trucks which had a base with a pretty decent slope to it because of the fender position.

I could tell you a neat story about a NOS antenna . . . Bought one for my truck and was so proud I got it so cheap . . . Truck all painted etc until I went to install it. I found out in a hurry it flat out would not fit! Thought for sure I was hosed on the nos until I started to compare it to my original.
Well even though my truck came with factory radio when the antenna was installed the template was put at top of molding vs edge of cab at bottom of molding moving it far too high up on cowl. I was a little pissed and thought of how the original antenna always had the lean . . . . A friend made me a new base with proper angle . . .
BINGO when I laid the template at top of molding the hole matched perfect in perfectly wrong place.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

If the antenna has broken off, the base will contain a stub. Antenna mast fits over stub, held in place by a set screw.
