I just joined this group since I am now a new owner of a F150. I used the Nissan Murano (my wife's car) forum quite a bit to research my issues so I guess this seems to be the place to join for my truck. I live in Canada but cross the border quite a bit to buy cheaper gas and goods.

I just picked up a 2012 F150 5.0L XLT with the XTR package and XLT Convenience package. It is a 4X4 and has the tow package. It is Race Red so it isn't easy to miss! Unfortunately 5 days after owning it, someone in a Raptor used me to stop so I am waiting for the body shop to call to fix it. Litlle over $3000 to fix it.

I still own a 2001 Silverado that is a great truck, no rust and pretty dependable. The PASSLOCK sytem gave me fits but eventually replaced the sensor, ignition switch and lock cylinder to fix it. Now it is for sale. I was amazed when I drove the 2012 Silverado that it was really the same truck inside and the same engine (4.8L 8). Didn't seem like an upgrade to me.

I tried the Dodge Ram and was very impressed. Lots of neat technology but didn't have one I loved so I passed.

Just an FYI for future buyers, my truck had a MSRP of approx $46k plus tax which in Canada pushes it to $52k! I bought the truck for $30k and change plus tax with a total of $35k. How could I pass up that deal? It was the first time I bought a new vehicle and didn't feel that I could have done better. Pretty rare these days.

I just bought the Echomaster Hitchscan for it and I will buy a Ford remote starter for it and that should be all I need. Already put a tonneau on it and will buy a tailgate lock this week.

That's it for me. I will be lurking about watching for issues that occur and new accessories I may need.

Dave
