Let's compare notes. I was driving my 2012 crew cab with longer 6.5 box on the highway when I drove over a bump across the road where repair work had been done. I happened to be looking in my rear view mirror at the same time and saw the tail end of my truck dance the booty shake. What the heck? Do you other 1/2 ton '09-newer Ford owners notice the same thing? Please specify your cab and bed option when you reply. I'm curious if a trend appears.
This is the type of stuff that will make anybody laugh at a Ford if they see happen. It wasn't just a little shake... it was the type of shake that becomes a good redneck joke. I don't ever feel the suspension getting upset, so I'm guessing it is pure bed shake, and not the frame?
my 12 screw 4x4 5.5 box dose the same thing.
i know for a fact its not as bad as a dodge or chevy. it due to the fact they used thiner sheet metal for the bed to reduce weight of truck to get better mileage. thanks to obama and cafe restrictions.
I just thought of something. I have an ARE cap on mine. Is it possible that has stiffened up my bed a bit? I have 6 clamps on it. At any rate, I'll get back in a few days and let ya know what I've seen.
Ever since seeing the infamous silver creek test vids, I've noticed this on all trucks. I really notice it on the heavy duties that don't have boxed frames. For the half tons, The American 3 + Nissan don't seem to shake all that much on the rough roads around here, but it is noticeable, mostly at the extreme rear of the vehicle where the shaking is exagerated. However, I see tons of shaking on the Tundras, and older half tons that are not boxed (regardless of mfr.)

they all do it..ive had 4 f150's (3 since new body style) my 03 didnt do it, the 06 08 and 12 do it....never had any problems related to it.
OK, during my daily trip up and down I 75, 350+or- miles, I kept my eye open for F150's. I saw them all, except it seemed there were an awful lot more Screws than anything else. I noticed only one with a shaky bed, and I really had to look close. Now, on mine yesterday, I did notice a slight bit of shaking after hitting some expansion joints down in the ghetto, er Detroit area. But that was the only time, and likely I wouldn't have noticed that except I was looking.
Have someone follow you and have them watch. It may not be as noticeable as you think.
I have a SCrew 6.5' bed and my back end shakes a little over bumps. Completely normal, as the frame rails are smaller under the bed and much thicker under the cab. The next time you ride behind a pickup, check out the bed shake over bumps. There is nothing to worry about, its very normal.
Anybody use the bed tie downs yet? Jeesh! Talk about flimsy sh**. Tighten up a strap and it appears that you'll rip the tie down right out of the sheet metal. It's not even mounted in the corner of the cab where the sheet metal is stronger. What a joke.
