You need to check both power to the PCM and power to the OBDII port before jumping off that cliff.

Trace the wiring harness from the engine, that should place the PCM.

As for the OBD-II port, check the fuse for the cigarette lighter. If that is blown, the OBD-II port will not have power.

The pcm is located under the dash and is accessable from under the hood. Look just to the right of the air cleaner housing and behind the radiator surge container on the upper firewall you will find a long connector looking like its attached to the firewall. It will have 120 wires to it and is held in place with one bolt in the center. Loosen the bolt ( Disconnect battery first!) and the connector will come loose. On each side of the connector that is left on the firewall you will find one bolt or studed nut. loosen these and the pcm will slide out. The number will be on a paper label on the flat side and that label will have about 6 different numbers this is the calibration code, I think this is the code that 5 star wants and by removing and reattaching the PCM your connections might be renewed,...... Hope this helps <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

ECM & OBD port

Both of them on my 04 Fleetwood Ford F53 chassis are on the inside of the cab, on the right side of the steering column up high out of sight. What a b**** to get to! I've also dropped a fuse box down to the floor so I can get to it. Removing the driver's seat makes it accessible but that's a pain too. (34' long and no room!!)

ECM/PCM in a 92 E-350 RV

Does anybody know where the darn thing is? I cannot see it in my inspections of underdash and engine compartment.

I need to find it cuz my RV is not shifting correctly. It will not shift out of 1st in D; I have to shift to 2, then back to D. Very annoying. E4OD was just rebuilt, VSS replaced, Solenoid body replaced again. Electrical guy says it is the PCM and for only $500 he will fix it. I would at least like to look this thing over before spending this much.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Let me try to get this whole set=up right so If you'll can help I will really thankful. Returned home to find my battery dead so I jumped and it was so dead that when I put the cable on it was reversed ..no sparks due to dead battery but I seen the error change them around...since then will turn over but no start . troubleshooting shows fuel in the rails . purchased cp9580 and thought if I shorted some of the pieces it would give me info. when I hooked up it said error in connection, but it turns on the the reader.after a few attempts I finally thought " ok dummy move on " so without a wiring diagram I thought I probability shorted the ECM. So which one am I looking for the PCM or ECM ? and where are they on this 1999 (f53 stripped chassis) fleetwood southwind 34L 6.8...
I REALLY NEED YOUR GUYS HELP HERE AS THE NEAREST REPAIR IS 60 MILES ON THE HOOK AWAY...PLUS REPAIRS ...

Does the check engine light come on when you first turn the key to "ON"?

Do ANY of the dash lights come on? ABS, AIR-BAG, etc?
