egr is plugged

well guys looks like it happened my truck has 173000km and the dreaded engine light came on with the code for the egr being plugged. starting to lose coolant and blow white smoke. My question is if im deleting it should i just go the extra distance and put new head gaskets in and stud the motor at the same time so I dont get double hit with labour cost down the road?

still runs perfect just noticed the coolant has now dropped below its sweet spot in the degas bottle

Follow the list in the tech folder and find your problem rather than throwing parts at it.

Im pretty sure it was P0404 Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit Range/Performance
But im not certain im no longer home I had to go back to work.
