C6 Transmission shift arm (help)!
1) I can not locate the kick down linkage on the World Wide Web.
2) The shift rod from the column to the tranny seems to short. I have tried all positions from P-1st. I am not sure if this is the result of the c6 I installed as it was hooked up to the old c6. ( or that's what they claimed). The truck had originally a 390 stick shift and they modified to install a 460 auto. Do they make a longer shift Rod for the C6?
I am so close to kicking it over and running it through it paces to check the new transmission and engine. But this shift problem has stopped my progress. I though of perhaps putting a slight bend in the rod to help it clear the firewall bump better and be in a position to attach it.
Bending rods to fit, in my experiences (which are few compared to some), has always turned out badly in the function end of things. I do NOT recommend bending a rod that will determine something as important as which gear you will be in. My truck (74 f250 460 C6) has a rod from the steering collumn which then connects to another rod that goes to the tranny arm. This is the sock set-up. Not sure of your set-up, but possibly if that's the case try a longer second rod?
As for the kickdown, it just isn't that complicated imo.

I finished taking out a c6 with blown clutch packs. I located another c6 a old timer had under his bench for the past 22 years with 30k on it.
I flushed the converter and cleaned up the new trans and checked all the torque on the inside under the cover. New gasket and re-torqued the pan bolts.
I noticed the original c6
was ran without a kick down linkage. I can not locate the kick down linkage on the World Wide Web.You are not going to be able to find Ford parts that are correct, because 1973 was the first year that FoMoCo offered F100/250 4WD's & Bronco's with A/T.
All previous 4WD's were only available with M/T's.
