I did on the C6 I removed from my pickup and replaced with the AOD. That lever gets clamped on the shaft and I just cut off the factory lever..

This what my C6 looks like. The shift lever was already removed when I got it. I had to move the shifter back and make a new rod (it was too far forward with a really short rod and binding) . They say to make the rod straight but it works with a bend in it too.
I also cleaned it after this...

My C-6 Lokar installation looks like the one directly above, except I used a straight rod.
Note the shift lever must be installed to rear of the lever on the transmission in order for
there to be enough travel to engage all the gears. On my first installation attempt, I tried
install the Lokar forward of the shift lever on the transmission and that does not work.

What type of shifter do you have John.? Is it cable operated or trans mounts?

I took the stud out, and bent the arm towards the tranny case. It cleared the lokar linkage just fine, and didn't interfere with anything else.

I have the cable drive shifter for the C6 I have and the original level is in the same position as yours is . Reading the instructions on the kit you have the level gets set at the 8 o'clock position so you can leave the original in tact and not have any worries of interference. For the cable unit I have the lever was in around the 7 o'clock position and I had not problems..

well I've pranked with it most of the day trying to get the linkage working properly. The C-6 has (in order top to bottom) P R N D L2 L and I couldn't get it to recognize L2 and L. There was a detent on the Ididit column for PRND and then one more. Frustrating since I' working alone and the up/down is killing me...

so I called Ididit wondering if they configured my column for 1-Reverse and 2Forward. Tech told me that they only detent one time after D and I should just find where L2 engages on the transmission... would have been nice to know that ahead of time !!!!

do you see any possible problem with that

so I guess I'll set the lowest column shifter position for low (furthest travel on the trans lever and just feel for L2...

do you have that same situation with your cable linkage ???

I can't remember to tell you the truth if I felt the detent in second or not but I seldom had it in low either other than when I set the sending unit to let you know what gear you were in. The shifter locked in park and neutral..I'm using the same shifter for my AOD and can go out and check. The AOD even though has an extra gear only has OD D L

Is the index plate removable?

Just need to file off a bit for L2 to work.

This was the part I was talking about:

Lock out plate, not index plate, my mistake.

I don't know how accessible this would be to get to on an Ididit column. I've been making one for my truck for a short term solution, so maybe it was just on my head.

I have that issue with my floor shifter with hard linkage. I talked to Lokar and they had a similar answer. There is no detent in the shifter for all gears. The detent in the trans itself should be positive enough to feel it stop when it is in gear. They said if it feels soft then the detent in the trans is worn... so I have learned to live with that.
