clockwise or counterclockwise

can anyone tell which way should a flathead v8 motor rotate when motor is running

As you face the front of the truck, the rotation will be clockwise. It can't run in any other direction.

Clockwise

If u r looking at the fan it turns clockwise. If u r looking at flywheel it turns ccw. Does that help?

LIke FortyNiner says,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,unless it is set up as a marine engine, then it might be set up to rotate the other way. Who knows what someone may find in an old boat shed.

thanx fellas ,one down ,truck start fine after it runs awhile or a nice drive i turn it off and it will not start. i wait afew hours then it start right up. 6v pos ground seems like the engine has to be cool it wont start when it hot

I've seen the hot start problem caused both by vapor lock and a coil that would crap out when hot.

Well it depends on whether you're talking about humans or cars.

It's a scenario where the heat from the engine essentially vaporizes the liquid fuel within the fuel system. As a result, the fuel pump does not maintain proper fuel pressure and steady flow of gasoline to the carb.

how do you fix that problem and i will check my coil

Believe it or not a old way of stopping vapor lock was to put a grapefruit half after you have taken the fruit out on the fuel pump bowl. Acts as grate insulation may not smell real good after a while but it does work. Dave s

at this point you could tell a mule pulling my truck is the way to go. 3 shops with this issue glad im getting close my truck move because of fte
