Does or has anyone noticed how much there bed shakes over bumps? Mine shakes alot. More than I think it should. Are there any tsb's out for this? any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I have a 2006 f-150 STX 4x4.
Thanks
My truck is an 05 scab fx4 W/ the 6.5' box and when I look in the side view mirror, the bed shakes. I tow a 28' travel trailer, off road with my truck, and also try to keep it babied and clean and have yet to see the bed hit the cab. I have noticed that the frame is thinner between the cab/bed part of the frame and that probably is the reason. Our trucks are very heavy, and have very strong frames, but they still need to flex a little. It did concern me when I first noticed the shaking, but I have got to believe that after 10 months of varied types of driving in my truck, a problem would have happened by now. Has anyone had a problem due to their shaking- bed ?
My bed shakes too. When I first drove the F150, I looked down the side via the side mirror and noticed it. It does not bother me anymore, that's for sure and the truck is rock solid. I would say... Don't worry about it. And if you and really need to compare, drive a similar truck and have a look...
i think they all do this, esp. empty. Watch the corners of the bed, if you get behind one on the hiway. This is aggravated by the outboard mounted shocks, not to mention stiffer shocks would make it worse i'm sure. If you think about the geometry and physics aspect of the design. If there was any serious side effects, we would be hearing about it probably on the '04's, thats had enough time to rack up some miles. paul....
Mine shakes too. Piece of advice...if you carry your bike in the back, don't mount the wheel holder to the side of the bed. It will rattle your bike to death! On a positive note, I was behind an 06 the other day and noticed it did the same thing. I guess that's positive?
i just bought an 06 screw and my bed shakes too. i noticed it while looking in the side mirrors. I was wondering why as well. Wondering that if i put a cap on it will it rattle loose over time.
But only between 55 and 60. I can feel the vibration when the beds jumping about. The dealer is replacing my tires.... Hopefully that solves the bed jumpin' and the vibration...
They are a couple of reasons that I have noticed for the bed shake issue. One is a personal experience. That is the tires. These trucks do not wear them well at all. Especially the factory Continental tires. Also another reason for the bed shake is because of the positioning of the shocks. Plus you have the stiffer frame now on these trucks. And not to mention the fact that the bed and the cab are seperate. If you get bothered by this you can always throw a couple of 50lb. bags of sand in the bed. One on either side of the truck. You will notice a difference. Hope this helps you guys out.

Wildcard - what you are describing is a vibration. That isn't at all what I am talking about. I am talking about a slow speed, (30 mph) going over railroad tracks or sorta rough road. The sides of the bed literally look like they are wobbly loose. The ride in the cab is great with no rattles, (except for that damn ashtray) but anything you put in the bed gets rattled. I know. I mounted my bike rack to the side of the bed. One trip to the trails and I had to move it. I couldnt stand watching what it was doing to my bike. I'll rack it up to a stiff frame.
And no - I am not going to put sand bags in the bed. Not even to see if it works.
